Library holding contest in honor of National Library Card Sign-Up Month

The Union County Library System needs your help in keeping their new Community Pantry stocked. They can accept both non-perishable and perishable foods, but nothing frozen, please. They also accept hygiene products. If you would like to donate items, bring them to the library during business hours. The library is open Monday through Thursday from 8:30-6 except for being closed from 12-1 for lunch. It is also open from 9-3 on Friday. You may also buy things from their Amazon wish list and have them shipped directly to the library. The link to the list is https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/genericItemsPage/33B7J7PTK28Q8.

September is National Library Card Sign-Up Month. To encourage citizens to sign up for a card and to show pride in already having a library card, the library is holding a contest. Those who sign up for a library card from September 1-30 or who take a selfie with their library card and post it to the library’s social media or email to info@unionlibrary.org will be entered for a chance to win a prize bag of goodies or a new Kindle Paperwhite. There is a limit of one entry per person, and entries must be received by October 1.

Meanwhile, the library’s weekly programs continue with Tuesday Storytime Tuesday morning at 10 a.m. Bring out the little ones ages birth to 5 for “Fall Into Fall” with library staff. They will have stories, games, crafts, and fun. Tuesday afternoon will be the Take & Make vs. Make & Take craft event. It is titled, “So You Think You Can Draw?” It will take place from 4-6 at the library. On Thursday, the library will host its virtual event, “Let’s Talk About STEAM: Why Do Apples Turn Brown?” Kelton and Spencer will lead that virtual event, which can be found on the library’s Facebook page and YouTube channel.
