Library Clears Schedule Ahead of Summer Reading Launch

Daniel Prince

Library will be open Saturdays

The Union County Library System cleared their events calendar for this week as they prepare to launch their Summer Reading program on Monday, June 6. The theme this year is Oceans of Possibility, and there are numerous activities planned in the months of June and July, which we will detail for you on Monday. Register for summer reading online at unionlibrary.beanstack.org. Beanstack also has a mobile app called the Beanstack Tracker that you can download to your phone. Summer reading is sponsored by the South Carolina State Library, Friends of the Union County Carnegie Library, Bantam Chef, and Lockhart Power. In addition, proceeds from Barbara Rippy’s recent rummage sales at the former Smith’s Drug Store building are going toward summer reading, as well.

The library is excited to announce that starting this week, it is bringing back Saturday hours. The library is open Monday through Thursday from 8:30-6, and Friday and Saturday from 9-3. Library staff will also be available via chat, phone, and email Monday through Thursday from 9-5 and Friday and Saturday from 9-3.
