Library announces holiday closing schedule
The Union County Library System enters the final two weeks of 2021 with three more programs on the schedule. Today at 10 a.m. will be the final Tuesday Storytime of the year. Ms. Raven will lead the Winter is Here story time in the children’s area of the library. It is open to children ages birth to four.
This afternoon from 4-6, adults are invited over to the library to pick up their Unwind Time craft bags. This month’s Unwind Time craft features DIY iron-on ornaments. Craft bags are available for pickup between 4-6 p.m. downstairs in the children and teen area. The crafts are free, and bags are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Wednesday at 10 a.m. will be a virtual Toddler Time event. Ms. Jennifer will be teaching the kids how to make DIY fake snow. The virtual event will be posted to the library’s Facebook page and YouTube channel.
The library continues to hope you will take time out this Christmas break for reading. The library’s Cozy Up to a Good Book Winter Reading Challenge for all ages enters its third week this week. You have until January 2nd to read a total of 10 hours, log the reading on a reading log available from the library, and return the log to the library by January 7 to be eligible for prizes. Prizes will be drawn on January 10. If you have questions, call 427-7140 or email info@unionlibrary.org.
The library is looking to hire a part-time library assistant. The job requires a valid driver’s license and the ability to work evenings and weekends. Those interested must submit a job application to jobs@unionlibrary.org or to the Carnegie Library at 300 East South Street. The application is available online at unionlibrary.org/employment.
The library will be closed for Christmas from this Thursday, December 23, through Monday, December 27. They will reopen on Tuesday, December 28, at 8:30 a.m. They also will be closed for the New Year on Friday, December 31, and will be back open at 8:30 a.m. on Monday, January 3.
