Library to Unveil Palmetto College iCarolina Lab

Ribbon cutting scheduled for Friday

The Union County Carnegie Library is closed today and tomorrow as it prepares for the ribbon cutting and debut of its new Apple Lab. All programs missed this week will be rescheduled. The Palmetto College iCarolina Lab at USC Union will be powered by Apple technology, complete with current iMac and iPad stations that will be available for use by anyone in the community.

The ribbon cutting will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at the library. According to a release by the university, it became clear during the pandemic that technology services are a necessity for many in the state, and especially in rural communities. Governor Henry McMaster allocated money through the Governor’s Emergency Education Relief fund to establish eight community computer labs at USC’s Palmetto College and regional campuses, giving people access to resources they need to further their education and for more workforce training.
