Live Healthy Union to Host Data Walk

Daniel Prince

Community members to meet and review county's health data

Friday morning at 9 a.m., Live Healthy Union will sponsor what is called the Union County Data Walk event. It will be at the Truluck Gymnasium on campus at USC Union. Local community members are invited to review the health data of Union County. The data will help give a better understanding of community needs, generate discussion, and inspire action.

According to the nonprofit group Urban Institute, data walks are an innovative way to share data with communities. The idea comes from a teaching technique that exposes small groups of students to large amounts of information in a variety of media posted on classroom walls for students to tour, similar to attending a museum exhibit. Data walks allow community members to rotate through stations where data is displayed visually and textually for participants to see, interpret, discuss, and reflect upon in small groups.

The public is invited to attend.
