Garage door was broken into
A Lockhart man reported several power tools stolen from his garage. Deputy Tenika Grubbs with the Union County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to a report of a break-in on North 2nd Street in Lockhart. The man there stated his garage door was broken into. Grubbs saw the hinges and latches of the door had been broken, and there was another lock on the ground by the garage door, which the victim stated was an older lock he had previously used on the door. The man didn’t know who might have broken in, and none of his neighbors saw anything, and there was no video footage available. The man stated he had last gone into the garage the previous Saturday. He said he had gone to Walmart with his wife Tuesday evening but did not check his garage upon returning. He said he was trying to do some yard work with his weed eater when he noticed the lock on the door was broken. A Bostitch air compressor with 50’ air hose, a Bostitch staple and trim gun, a Stihl weed eater, a Stihl blower, a DeWalt skill saw, a DeWalt Sawzall, a DeWalt cordless drill, and a Skil variable speed jigsaw were all taken from the garage. Total value of the missing tools was estimated at $1793. The case has been forwarded to investigations.
