County delegation to recommend replacement to the governor

During the budget workshop, Supervisor Phillip Russell informed County Council that longtime Veterans Affairs Service Officer Cindy Fore will be retiring as of June 30. He said she has indicated she is willing to stay on part-time for a while to train her replacement. Russell said the county will put out a job description and collect applicants, but that is not a position that the county hires. Russell said the county will give the applicants’ information to the county delegation, led by Rep. Doug Gilliam, who will then make a recommendation to Governor Henry McMaster. The governor ultimately will appoint the new service officer for the county.
