Second blaze in as many months at the plant; no injuries reported
For the second time in the last two months, fire crews responded to a blaze at Standard Textile. Firefighters responded to the plant on Highpoint Drive just after 9 p.m. Monday night. Reports stated that there was fire and heavy smoke inside the facility as a tenter frame machine at the plant caught fire. Three other tenter frame machines were damaged by smoke, according to the report. The employees were able to safely evacuate, and no injuries were reported. All fire departments in the county responded to the blaze, which was extinguished around 10:30 p.m. No further details were released.
A minor fire was reported at the plant’s exhaust stacks outside the building on March 11 and was quickly extinguished.
