Jayshuwa Jayshawn Gist charged with burglarizing apartment

A Union man has been arrested in a breaking and entering case that dates to 2018.

On March 21, 2018, Sgt. Shane Petrie with the Union Public Safety Department was called to Foxfire Apartments for the incident. The victim stated he had gone to work at Belk Distribution on the afternoon of March 20, and when he came back the next afternoon, he noticed someone had broken the back window to the kitchen area of his apartment. He stated the burglar stole a pair of Nike Air Force Ones valued at $100, several DVDs valued at $50, a Walter Payton Chicago Bears throwback jersey worth $180, and $120 in cash. Petrie found blood on the floor by the window and on the baseboard under the window. Lt. Mickey Parker came to the scene and swabbed the blood for evidence.

An arrest warrant was signed on October 6, 2020, on 24-year-old Jayshuwa Jayshawn Gist, charging him with 2nd-degree burglary and petit larceny. The warrant was served on Thursday and Gist was booked into Union County Jail. He was released on bond on Friday.
