Victim was a truck driver making delivery to the store
The Union County Sheriff’s Office arrested a man on 2nd-degree assault and battery charges as a man is accused of a sexual assault on a female at a convenience store. Back on April 27, Deputy Casey Barefoot responded to a walk-in at the Union County Sheriff’s Office. The victim stated she was assaulted at the Whitmire Food Mart. The woman is a transfer truck driver and makes deliveries to a business in the Whitmire area. She said on April 21, she stopped at the Whitmire Food Mart when a man came up behind her and grabbed her around the torso, touching her inappropriately in the process. While holding her, she said he then forcibly groped her. She said she was actively trying to get away from the man, but he was stronger than she was and she couldn’t get away. She identified the man as her aunt’s ex-boyfriend, Ronnie Lemons. She said after six days, she was still sore to the touch and was experiencing mental trauma to the point of seeking professional help.
Barefoot went to the store to view the surveillance footage, and what he saw matched the woman’s story. 58-year-old Ronnie Fitzgerald Lemons was arrested on Sunday and charged with second-degree assault and battery. He was released on a $5000 bond.
