A Union man has been arrested and charged with grand larceny for aiding another person in stealing a vehicle. The theft was reported on Valentine’s Day from a residence on Bridle Trail Lane. The owner stated that sometime during the night before, his 2017 Subaru Legacy was stolen. He got notification on his phone that the vehicle was moving, and he walked outside and discovered the car was gone. He said he always locks his vehicles at night, but whoever stole the vehicle might have been able to access a valet key that was in a hidden compartment. He provided officers with the updated location on the vehicle through the GPS tracking. The suspect is a 16-year-old juvenile offender, and that person was arrested back on February 22nd. 61-year-old Anthony Kenneth Smith is charged with assisting or aiding the juvenile in stealing the vehicle. There were no details reported on Smith’s exact involvement in the incident. Smith was arrested back on February 24. He was released on bond.
