Pink Out Friday and Shout Out Saturday events planned
The Marisha Sharay Jeter Scholarship Foundation is holding a couple of special events this week. Today is Pink Out Friday, and they are encouraging everyone to wear pink in honor of what would have been Marisha Jeter’s 31st birthday. You can post photos to social media using the hashtag #MSJPinkOut. Tomorrow, the foundation will show appreciation for their sponsors and supporters with Shout Out Saturday. Free hot dogs will be served at the home of Manning and Maretta Jeter at 409 South Church Street, starting at 2 p.m. and going until they run out.
Jeter was tragically murdered in January 2008 at the age of 16. The foundation was set up in her memory to honor the activities she loved, including cheering and singing. 13 scholarships have been given in her honor to senior girls seeking to further their education. The foundation holds fundraising events throughout the year, including an annual cheer camp, youth choir competition, and food sale.
