Hike is $5, with reservations required
You could make it a state park day Saturday, as the Battle of Musgrove Mill State Historic Site in Clinton has their monthly ranger-guided battlefield hike planned. The two-hour hike will begin this Saturday at 10 a.m. The hike is scheduled less than two weeks away from the anniversary of the Battle of Musgrove Mill, which took place on August 19, 1780. The battle is billed as a turning point in the Patriots’ fight for independence on the South Carolina Backcountry. The hike will cover the 1.5-mile Battlefield Trail. Those participating in the hike will learn about why the battle was fought at Musgrove Mill, who participated, what occurred, and why the battle was important to the Patriot cause.
The hike will cost $5. Reservations are required in advance by calling 864-938-0100 or emailing mgmillsp@scprt.com. You can also reserve your spot and pay in advance online at reserve.southcarolinaparks.com/register. Scroll down to the listing for the Battle of Musgrove Mill Ranger Guided Hike. Meet at the park’s Visitor’s Center between 9:45 and 10, and the hike will begin at 10. Please wear appropriate clothing and footwear for hiking and bring bottled water.
