Break-ins reported in Cherokee Estates on Friday

Several more vehicles have been broken into in the Cherokee Estates area. The break-ins were reported on Friday morning. One was on Briarwood Lane, and the man and woman who live there stated that between 5 p.m. Thursday and 6 a.m. Friday, their vehicles had been broken into and rummaged through. The woman stated she was missing some miscellaneous mail and banking documents. The man didn’t notice anything missing from his vehicle, but he said his glovebox was open and papers scattered around the passenger side of the vehicle. The second incident took place on Glendale Road. Two officers found an Apple laptop in a ditch near another residence down the street. They identified the laptop’s owner and went to speak with him. He stated someone must have broken into the vehicle, as he keeps the laptop in the center console area of his truck. He said his front passenger door was left open, as was the glove compartment. He said his truck is older and sometimes the door doesn’t lock. He didn’t find anything else missing from his vehicle. Another Glendale Road resident reported her vehicle had been broken into, as well. The woman stated she looked through her van and it appeared that it had been rummaged through. She didn’t think anything was missing, but she said she would get her husband to confirm that when he got home. All the cases are under investigation.
