Daniel Prince

Numerous representatives of organizations attend information session

A group gathered in the sanctuary of Grace United Methodist Church Tuesday afternoon to brainstorm ways to help children falling behind in school and to help those falling into addiction. The Love Thy Neighbor Initiative of the church invited community stakeholders to come to the meeting and talk about the problems and come up with possible solutions and next steps to take. A number of organizations were represented at the meeting, including Union County Council, Union County Library System, Union County Schools, Union County First Steps, DJJ, Friends of the Library, SC Educational Association, Sisters on the Move by Faith, Union Public Safety, Union County Sheriff’s Office, Union Housing Authority, C-4 Ministries, and several churches, among others.

The first part of the meeting was given over to allowing the people representing those organizations to talk about the resources they can provide. Connecting people in need with resources that can help is a big help.
Dale Goff, one of the leaders helping to spearhead the Love Thy Neighbor Initiative, talked about some of the goals the group has:
