Parent-Student Transition Fair Planned

Daniel Prince

Friday is a teacher workday--no school for students

As a reminder to parents and guardians, Friday is a teacher workday, so there will be no school for students.

The Union County Office of Special Services and the Union County Transition Advisory Committee wants to remind you that the 2022 Parent-Student Transition Fair will be held at Union County High School this evening from 6-7:30 p.m. in the cafeteria. Organizers say they believe the event will give students and parents the chance to hear from community and state agencies, local employers, and college representatives to assist the students in becoming successful and productive citizens. They hope to encourage parents to be more involved with their students, as well. All parents and students ages 13 and older with individualized education plans (IEPs) or 504 plans are encouraged to attend. Snacks will be provided, and door prizes will be given away, as well. Agencies interested in getting involved in the event are asked to bring information about their program, agency, business, or post-secondary school to share with parents and students. Those already signed up to be involved include: Federation of Families of SC, SC Assistive Technology Program, Family Connection of SC, Spartanburg Community College, Protection & Advocacy, SC Vocation Rehabilitation, SC Legal Services, Able SC, SC Works, Healing Springs, ACHIEVE Program, and more.
