Pee Wee’s House, a nonprofit foundation run by Arizona Cardinals offensive tackle and Union native D.J. Humphries, is hosting a two-day event in Union County. On Saturday, July 2, the foundation will host The Fresh Food Initiative, a drive-thru food pantry box distribution featuring seasonal produce provided by Marvin’s Produce, a South Carolina-based farm. The distribution is first-come, first-served, starting at 10 a.m. on July 2nd and going until they run out of boxes. It will be held at 214 North Pinckney Street, outside Keenan’s Touch of Class.

On Sunday, July 3, Pee Wee’s House will host a Back to School Carnival at the Union County Fairgrounds from 4-8 p.m. They will hold a backpack and school supply distribution while supplies last. The event will feature carnival activities, bounce houses, face painting, a magician, balloon animals, a rock-climbing wall, a video game truck, music, Kona Ice, and more. If you are a local food vendor who would like to participate in the event, contact Jamarcus Rice as soon as possible to secure a spot. Call 864-580-6097 or email riceinvestorgroup@gmail.com.

Pee Wee’s House is named after Humphries’ grandmother, Elizabeth Ann Means, whom everyone knew as Pee Wee. Means died in 2009.
