Ceremony will be at 10 a.m. at the courthouse
Supervisor-elect Phillip Russell will take the oath of office today to become Union County’s new supervisor. He will be sworn in at 10 a.m. in the lobby at the Union County Courthouse. Russell defeated Timika Wilson in November with 68.6% of the vote. Early on, interim Supervisor Bob Love indicated he was willing to step aside and allow Russell to take office earlier than January 3rd, when other county elected officials will be sworn in. After consulting with the governor’s office, Love and Russell decided to make the transition effective on December 1, and before Thanksgiving, Governor Henry McMaster signed Executive Order 2022-35, appointing Russell to the post as of today.
