Planning Commission to Hold Public Meeting on Proposed Land Use Ordinance

Daniel Prince

Proposed ordinance can be read on county's website

The Union County Planning Commission will hold a public meeting this afternoon at 4:30 p.m. at Main Street Junction. The meeting will be a chance for the public to get more information about the proposed land development regulations for unincorporated areas of Union County. The public will have a chance to ask questions and get answers from the Planning Commission and those who have helped the commission craft the regulations, which has been in the works for several years. The land use regulations are a prominent part of the Union County Comprehensive Plan, which council passed last year.

If you want to read the ordinance and proposed regulations, you can view them under the “online forms and documents” tab of the county website at gearupunionsc.com. You can also view them in the Supervisor’s Office at the courthouse.

After the question-and-answer session, the Planning Commission is expected to vote to formally recommend that County Council adopt the regulations. County Council will hold their public hearing on Tuesday, December 13, at 5:10 p.m. prior to their regular meeting, where they are expected to hold a vote on the second of three required readings of the ordinance.
