Sheriff's Office invites community to come together

There have been protests in many cities In light of the events that happened recently in Memphis, TN, leading to the death of Tyre Nichols and the arrest of the five officers involved in the incident. Body cam footage of the incident was released last Friday night. In light of those events, a number of groups are coming together in Union County, not for a protest, but for a prayer vigil. The Union County Sheriff’s Office spearheaded the event, which will also be attended by the Pacolet River Baptist Association, Union County Baptist Association, city and county council members, law enforcement officers across Union County, various religious organizations, and the Union County NAACP. The prayer vigil will take place Tuesday, January 31, at 5:30 p.m. at the Union County Courthouse.
