Sheriff's Office organizes vigil following death of Tyre Nichols in Memphis

A good-sized crowd gathered at the steps of the Union County Courthouse Tuesday afternoon to pray. The vigil was held in light of the recent death of Tyre Nichols in Memphis, TN, at the hands of police officers, five of whom are charged in his death. Sheriff Jeff Bailey organized the prayer vigil, which featured ministers from the Pacolet River Baptist Association and Union County Baptist Association, NAACP leaders, public officials, and law enforcement officers coming together to pray for justice, healing, and unity. Rev. George Shell, from St. Luke Baptist Church, opened the gathering with prayer. He gave the crowd three words to think on and to pursue:
