Ranger-Guided Hike Coming at Battle of Musgrove Mill State Historic Site

Battle was turning point in fight for nation's independence in SC Backcountry

The Battle of Musgrove Mill State Historic Site announces its monthly ranger-guided hike of the Battlefield Trail. It is scheduled for Saturday, February 5, from 10-noon. The two-hour hike will cover the 1.5-mile Battlefield Trail, during which hikers will learn about why the battle was fought at Musgrove Mill, who participated, what occurred during the battle, and the importance of the battle to the Patriot cause. The 1780 battle is touted as a vital turning point in the Patriots’ fight for independence in the South Carolina Backcountry.

The cost of the hike is $5. Those wishing to attend need to reserve their spot in advance by calling 864-938-0100 or emailing mgmillsp@scprt.com. Meet at the park’s Visitor’s Center between 9:45 and 10 a.m., and the hike will start at 10. Hikers are asked to wear appropriate clothing and footwear for hiking and to bring bottled water.
