Republican Women Hosting 2nd Annual Tour of Homes

Daniel Prince

Tickets are $15 in advance and $20 at the door

The Union County South Carolina Republican Women are hosting a special tour for the Christmas season. The second-annual “Historical Homes at Christmas in Union County” tour will be held this Saturday from 1-6 p.m. Those with tickets will be able to tour six different houses. The Culp House at 300 North Mountain Street is the first stop on the tour, followed by the Alfred H. Foster (Fowler) House at 508 East Main Street. Just up from that is the Guy H. Wilburn House at 603 East Main Street, and not far from that is the Gene Gregory House at 707 East Main Street. The fifth home on the tour is the Sutherland (Bailey) House at 504 Perrin Avenue. The final stop on the tour is out on Highway 49 West, as the Nicholson Mansion, at 2403 Cross Keys Highway, will hold a tour and reception.

Even though that is the order of the houses on the ticket, organizers say you can start at any house listed, and they encourage people to start in different places so that the homes don’t become overcrowded.

Advance tickets are $15 and are available at Smith’s Jewelry, Embroidery by Karen, Kirby’s Cake Shoppe, and Sanders Garden Center. Republican Women members also have tickets. You can also call 427-3557.Tickets the day of the tour will be $20 and will be available at each of the homes.

Union County Republican Women president Carolyn Lawson was on WBCU last week to talk about the event. She said you don’t have to leave town to find beautiful old homes:
