Republican Women to Host Patriotic Celebration

The Union County South Carolina Republican Women have a special event planned tonight. At 6 p.m., the group will present a Patriotic Celebration to be held at Veterans Lodge at Foster Park. According to lodge rules, tickets cannot be sold at the door. Advance tickets are $15 and are available at Smith’s Jewelry Store, Sanders Garden Center, Embroidery by Karen, and from any member of the Republican Women.

SC District 47 Representative Tommy Pope and Pastor Tony Foster will be the guest speakers. Lieutenant Governor Pamela Evette is also expected to attend and make some remarks. The evening will feature a flag ceremony, a silent auction, a 50-50 drawing, music, and dinner. The event should last around two hours.

WBCU News spoke with Carolyn Lawson, president of the Union County South Carolina Republican Women about the goals of the group:

Lawson stated the group started last August. It became a federated Republican Women organization and had its charter approved in March 2021 and was presented this June. She stated the group started with 10 members and has now grown to 24. They meet the 4th Tuesday of the month at 708 South Duncan Bypass, Suite D.
