Wet weather may affect Thursday's portion of the event
Union County High School will host an event called Jacket Games: Tennis Event 2022. The event was originally set to be a Special Olympics event, but the name was changed. Weather forced the event to be postponed back on March 10-11, and it was rescheduled for March 30-31. Wet weather is again in the forecast for Thursday, but they do plan to go ahead and hold the event tomorrow for the students at Buffalo Elementary. Sims and Union County High School students are scheduled to participate on Thursday, but rain may cause that to be postponed. The school district’s Office of Special Services is hosting the event, and if Thursday’s portion of the event is postponed, it will be rescheduled; however, the rain date has not been announced. At the event, students will be showcasing their skills on the tennis court, with awards to follow. The event is scheduled from 9-1, starting with registration at 9. The parade of champions and opening ceremonies will begin at 9:30. From 10-noon, they plan to showcase the students’ tennis skills and have the Olympic village open. Lunch will be at noon, followed by awards at 12:30. The students will be dismissed at 1.
