SC Uplift Community Outreach will hold a free educational event called Let’s Talk About Housing at the Carlisle Town Hall on Thursday, August 18, from 6-8 p.m. The event will help attendees learn more about preparing to purchase and maintain a home. One topic covered is budgeting and credit strategies. Those attending will learn strategies about controlling spending, encouraging savings, improving credit score, borrowing basics, interest rates, and more. They will also talk about the home buying process, giving an overview of the process and giving information on possible down payment assistance programs and more. The third topic is asset protection, where attendees will learn to identify ways to protect family, property, and other assets through living wills, insurance, and more.
