Program offers assistance to low-income seniors for minor home modifications
The group SC UpLift Community Outreach, in partnership with i58 and Suite 65 LLC presents the Older Adults’ Home Modification Program. The program offers assessments and grant assistance for low-income senior citizens for low-cost home modifications to allow them to safely stay in their homes. Examples of the low-cost modifications include lever-handle doorknobs, lever-handle faucets, grab bars, anti-slip strips for tubs and showers, railings, and more.
Funding for the program is provided by the Housing and Urban Development administration. The program is for homeowners only, and they must be at least 62 years old. Income restrictions also apply.
If you are interested in finding out more, there will be an information session scheduled at the Union County Community Development Office at 103 West Main Street on Wednesday, October 27, from 1-3 p.m. Refreshments will be served. The meeting is free and open to the public.
