JROTC Instructor Receives Honor from Boy Scouts
At Monday’s school board meeting, Superintendent Joey Haney and Director of Instruction Dr. Lacresha Byrd congratulated four students on being named Junior Scholars. To be a Junior Scholar, an 8th-grade student must make a combined 1080 on the PSAT. Each student received a certificate and a bumper sticker recognizing their achievement. Mason Arder and Chloe Burrell from Sims Middle School earned the honor, as did Shanna Cook and Alyssa Williams from Jonesville Elementary-Middle School.
Maggie McMahon from Boy Scouts of America was on hand to present the Elbert K. Frontwell Outstanding Educator Award to Lt. Col. James Ruzicka. Ruzicka leads the Union County High School JROTC program. Here is what McMahon had to say:
