Short executive session may be needed prior to open meeting
The Union County Board of School Trustees will be meeting for the second time this month tonight at 6:30. The meeting will be in Room 600 of the Union County Career and Technology Center. An executive session for personnel matters may be held just prior to the open session, but it is not expected to last long, if it is needed at all.
In the open session, Superintendent Joey Haney will give any updates to the board that he has. The main business for the meeting is to give final approval to the fiscal year 2022-2023 general fund budget. Finance Director Kelly Richardson held off on calling for a vote on it in the last meeting in the hopes that the state legislature would pass its final version of the budget before tonight’s meeting. The SC House and Senate quickly passed the budget the conference committee put together, and final approval awaits the legislature’s handling of Governor McMaster’s line-item vetoes. The budget that Richardson gives the board to approve will include the new state figures on teacher starting pay, raises, and change to the funding formula.
The only other agenda item is to approve the personnel report. After that, the meeting will adjourn. The public is invited to attend.
