New food services director and finance director hired
At last Monday’s School Board meeting, the personnel report included a couple of new district-level hires. The board approved hiring Mickela Mitchell as the district’s Director of Food and Nutrition Services. She worked as marketing and promotions coordinator for Rock Hill Schools from 2000-2003, and then worked as Director of Student Nutrition for the Clover School District until 2006. In the 16 years since then, she has worked for The Dairy Alliance, serving at various times as Manager of Youth Wellness and Food Nutrition Outreach, Senior Manager of youth Wellness, and Assistant Director of Youth Wellness. She takes over for Jonathan Smoak, who left at the end of last year. Susan Thompson has been serving as the interim director this year.
The board approved hiring Linda Griffin as its new Director of Finance for the school district. Kelly Richardson was hired mid-year last year to complete last year’s audit and to oversee the audit process for this year. She did not want the job on a permanent basis but will remain on as a consultant as needed. Linda Griffin comes to the district having served in her career as an auditor for the Piggly Wiggly Carolina Corporation, accountant for Castrejon Properties from 2007-2013, and senior accounting/purchasing for New Horizon Electric Cooperative, Inc., since 2013.
