Coverage will be limited to two incidents per year per student

The Union County School District has announced a change to its laptop insurance policy for the upcoming 2023-2024 school year. The district will be limiting the number of incidents that insurance covers to two per insurance coverage year per student. It is important to note it is not per device, but per student. After the initial two incidents, insurance will become void for the remainder of the school year, and any further damages will be charged based on the current fee schedule, which, depending on the damage, can range from $10-$250. A copy of the fee schedule is available on the district’s website under the “for parents” tab. Click on “student device important information”. The cost of insurance will remain the same, at $25 between August 1 and October 1, increasing to $50 between October 2-January 1, and increasing to $100 between January 2 and March 1. Starting the following school year, in 2024-2025, the insurance fee will increase from $25 to $35 due to rising technology costs. The total cost of a device will increase from $250 to $300 starting then, as well.
