Grant pays for position; applications are being accepted
Sheriff Jeff Bailey told Union County Council in their June meeting that his office has received a grant for a school resource officer for the Career and Technology Center. The grant pays for the officer and the officer’s vehicle. The sheriff’s office has called for those interested to submit a letter of interest indicating the reason for pursuing the opportunity. The letter must be submitted to Captain Scott Coffer at the sheriff’s office by the close of business today. Applicants must be a high school graduate; be a graduate of the SC Criminal Justice Academy and currently hold a Class One Certification; possess strong oral and written communication skills; have a minimum of one year of law enforcement experience; and successfully complete a six-month probationary period, after which a performance evaluation will be conducted. The SRO salary range is between $41,000 and $45,000.
