Support Staff of the Year also honored this year

Today is the first day back in school for students in Union County following winter break. Teachers came back yesterday for professional development. SC State Teacher of the Year Amy Carter addressed those attending one of the professional development sessions at Union County High School.

Just before Christmas, the schools across the district named their teacher of the year, and new this year, they also honored someone as support staff of the year. At Buffalo Elementary School, Mr. Devin Turner was named Teacher of the Year, and Mrs. Gloria Farr was honored as Support Staff of the Year. At Foster Park Elementary School, Mrs. Katie Prince was honored as Teacher of the Year, and Shelby Alexander was named Support Staff of the Year. At Monarch Elementary School, Mrs. Heather Fant Vinson was honored as Teacher of the Year, while Mr. Andrew Lee earned Support Staff of the Year honors. At Jonesville Elementary/Middle School, Mrs. Christie Thornton was named Teacher of the Year, while Ms. Debbie Esposito was the Support Staff of the Year honoree. At the Union County Career and Technology Center, Mr. Chris Ketterman was named Teacher of the Year, Mrs. Ashley Youngblood West was named First Year Teacher of the Year, and Mrs. Tina Lawter Lancaster was honored as Support Person of the Year. We will pass along the winners from Sims Middle School and Union County High School as soon as we get their announcement. Congratulations to these deserving folks.
