Still time to sign up as sponsor, return gifts to church
The Secret Santa program at Grace United Methodist Church is in its final week for this year. Over the last 31 years, Union County has unselfishly given children in the community the opportunity to experience the true meaning of the holiday.
The program, sponsored by the Upper Room and Young Adult Sunday School classes at Grace United Methodist Church, has a goal of serving 207 children ages 10 and under this year. They are asking citizens of the community to sponsor at least one child this year. Parents have submitted a list of three gifts for each child. Sponsors are asked to purchase at least one of the gifts from the list, but they may purchase all three if they choose. In addition, the group asks that sponsors include an item in each package that relays the message of God’s love.
The sponsorship drive runs through December 12, with the last day to return gifts on December 13. To sponsor a child, email graceumc_secretsanta@hotmail.com or call 426-2776 and leave a message. The Upper Room and Young Adult Sunday School classes at Grace want to express their appreciation to the community for its generosity through the years of delivering packages to deserving children at Christmas.
