Several More Vehicle Break-ins Reported

Daniel Prince

All vehicles were located in Cherokee Estates subdivision

Following a few quiet days, there have been several more reports of vehicle break-ins in the Cherokee Estates subdivision. Three of the break-ins occurred at addresses on Glendale Road, and one occurred on Bridletrail Lane. The break-ins were reported Tuesday morning.

A woman at one of the addresses on Glendale Road stated she was getting ready to leave for work when she noticed her vehicle had been broken into. The center console and glove box were both left open. She said she saw her wallet on the ground on the side of the driveway. She stated nothing was taken from the vehicle, which she had left unlocked.

A man at a nearby residence said his Chevrolet truck was broken into and a firearm was stolen from it. He said he locked the truck, and force was used to get into it. PFC Cody Hill did not see any obvious damage to the door or frame of the vehicle. The gun was a Glock 19 9mm. The man said he was missing two magazines of ammunition, as well. The gun had been in the center console and the magazines were in the glovebox. He said his doorbell camera didn’t capture anything, as his wife’s SUV was in the way. The gun was valued at $500.

A woman down the street said when she woke up and checked her truck, her glove box was open and papers were strewn around the vehicle. She said nothing was missing, but she was reporting it because it was evident that someone had gone through the vehicle.

On Bridletrail Lane, a man stated the hatchback on his vehicle was not all the way closed when he left for work. He said he didn’t notice anything missing but knew his neighbors’ vehicles had been broken into, so he wanted to report it. He later called back after work and stated that when he got home, he checked another vehicle at his residence and saw the glovebox was open and the vehicle had been rummaged through. He also said his son’s car appeared to have slight damage on the passenger side door that looked like someone had tried to pry open the door.

In addition to those cases, a man on OShields Street stated someone had broken into his vehicles. He said he is missing his registration from his truck, and nothing appeared to be missing from the car. In both cases, his papers from the glovebox and center console were scattered throughout the vehicles.
All the cases have been sent to investigations.
