Three vehicles broken into and one stolen
A Union woman reported her 2016 Cadillac XTS was stolen sometime between 2 p.m. last Wednesday and 7:20 a.m. last Thursday. She parked the gold-colored Cadillac at her residence on Walker Heights after work, and got up the next day to find the vehicle gone. She said she left the vehicle unlocked with the key fob inside the vehicle, which has a push-button start. Sgt. Bryan Shaver got the vehicle information from the DMV and sent the information to the county and surrounding counties to be on the lookout for the vehicle. The vehicle was valued at $20,000. According to the incident report, the vehicle was recovered, but no suspect has been identified yet.
Two other residents on Walker Heights reported that their vehicles were broken into. Around $50 was stolen from one woman’s vehicle between last Wednesday evening and last Thursday morning. The vehicle had been left unlocked. The other woman stated her son’s bookbag had been opened and its contents scattered, but nothing appeared to be missing from the vehicle. She did say that a weed eater that was on the back porch may have been stolen, but it was not clear if the incident was connected to the vehicle break-in.
In another incident, a man on Catawba Street reported that his 9mm handgun had been stolen from his truck between Saturday night and Sunday morning. The gun was identified as the weapon recovered as evidence in another incident that Union Public Safety was investigating. Investigator Dylan Beheler was notified of the incident in connection to the case he was working. That particular case was not included in the incident reports provided to WBCU yesterday.
