Sheriff's Office Hands Out Annual Awards at Christmas Party

Beloved K-9 deputy honored posthumously

The Union County Sheriff’s Office held its annual Christmas party Tuesday night. As is tradition, the sheriff handed out several awards for the work of the people in his office. Russell Vinson was named Investigator of the Year. Corporal Galen Israel and his beloved K-9, Duke, was honored as Deputy of the Year. Duke passed away from cancer earlier in the month. Kevin Smith was named School Resource Officer of the Year.
