Spartanburg Man Killed in Wreck

Vehicle traveled off left side of road and struck a mailbox and two culverts

A Spartanburg man was killed in a wreck in Union County Thursday morning. The Union County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as 41-year-old James Franklin Crawford, of Spartanburg. According to Master Trooper James Miller of the SC Highway Patrol, the single-vehicle wreck took place around 5:15 a.m. on the 3400 block of Buffalo-West Springs Highway (Hwy. 215) near Rices Chapel Road. Crawford was driving a 2019 Chevy SUV. He was transported by EMS to the hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. Crawford was traveling south on Hwy. 215 when his vehicle traveled off the left side of the roadway, striking a mailbox and two culverts.
