Hospital updates public on COVID hospitalizations, urges citizens to get vaccinated
DHEC and Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System came together for a press conference Wednesday morning. They reminded people that the former Spartanburg Chrysler Dodge Jeep dealership is back open for free, drive-thru COVID testing Monday through Friday from 8:30-5. More than 1500 tests have already been performed over the past two days. They announced a mobile vaccination clinic for this Saturday at Dorman High School from 9-noon. They will offer the Pfizer vaccine there.
At the conference, Dr. Chris Lombardozzi, Chief Medical Officer at Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System, gave some insight into what the hospital is seeing right now:

Lombardozzi said of 52 COVID patients in the ICU, 50 are unvaccinated. He said of 30 COVID patients on ventilators, 29 are unvaccinated. He also said the patients the hospital is getting now are much younger than the ones they were seeing during the last spike in December and January. He urged people to go to www.vaccinefinder.org to find a location to get vaccinated.
