Special Referendum Election Set for Tomorrow, November 2nd

Daniel Prince

Capital project sales tax, change in form of county government on the ballot

Tomorrow is the special referendum election in Union County, where voters will be deciding on whether they want the 1% capital project sales tax and a change in the form of Union County government to a council-administrator form.

Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. at their normal locations, with three notable exceptions. The precincts that normally vote at Buffalo, Monarch, and Foster Park Elementary schools will move tomorrow since school will be in session on Election Day. Union County Elections Director Darlene Pettit told WBCU News that the East Buffalo precinct, which normally votes at Buffalo Elementary, will instead vote at the National Guard Armory at 165 Industrial Park Road. Monarch Box 1 will move from Monarch Elementary School to Bethel United Methodist Church, at 1705 Lockhart Hwy. Ward 1 Box 1, instead of voting at Foster Park Elementary, will instead vote at Lakeside Baptist Church, at 640 Lakeside Drive. Again, this is a temporary move for this election only.

Today is the last day for absentee voting, which takes place at the Union County Election Commission office on South Duncan Bypass. WBCU News will have the results of the election on our Facebook page Tuesday night and on the Wednesday morning news.
