Stolen Skid Steer Quickly Recovered

Equipment was stolen from company doing work on Carlisle sewer project

The Union County Sheriff’s Office recovered a stolen skid steer shortly after it was taken. Double R Utilities, who is doing the work on the Carlisle Regional Wastewater project, reported the Kubota skid steer missing on Sunday from the Santuc/Carlisle area. Deputies found the suspect truck hauling the stolen skid steer traveling on the Jonesville-Lockhart Highway near Pea Ridge Hwy. and attempted to conduct a traffic stop. The vehicle did not stop initially, but after a pursuit, the truck with the stolen skid steer came to a stop around the 1400 block of Spartanburg Hwy. in Jonesville. The driver and only occupant of the vehicle, identified as 38-year-old Cameron Maurice Evans, of Spartanburg, was arrested and charged with grand larceny, $10,000 or greater; malicious damage, for purposely damaging the starter on the skid steer during the theft; and failure to stop for a blue light. The skid steer was returned to Double R Utilities.
