Students Recognized for Perfect End-of-Course Exam Scores

Audit on track to be turned in on time this year

Several Union County students were honored at last week’s school board meeting. The board recognized those with perfect scores on their end-of-course exams. 14 students earned perfect scores on the Biology I exam, and three of them also scored perfectly on the English 2 end-of-course exam. Aryn Freeman, Joshua Lee, and Rebecca West aced the biology and English exams. The others with perfect biology exam scores were: Hallie Burrell, Grayson Fallen, Harrison Lawson, Jaiya McKissick, Cason Porter, Michael Royce, Ethan Smith, Reagan Turner, Audri Williams, Brianna Ndemeye, and Robert Wilkins. Peyton Palmer was also honored for a perfect score in the SC Ready math test last year when he was a 5th-grader at Buffalo Elementary.

Finance Director Kelly Richardson said the auditors have started to finalize the field work for the audit and should be ready to present the audit to the board at the November meeting. The audit is due to the State Department of Education in December, and the Union County School District has not met that deadline in a couple of years or more, resulting in increased scrutiny of the district by the state.

The board approved new textbooks for 4th and 5th grade Social Studies, US Government, History and Constitution, Environmental Science, and Earth Science. The board also approved a field trip request from the bass fishing team, approving their tournament schedule for the year.
