School may be out, but learning continues at Union County Schools this summer. 11 different summer camps and programs will be offered. For K-2, Camp Candy will be held at Buffalo from June 13-23 on Monday-Thursday. Third graders can attend Summer Reading Camp at Buffalo from June 13-July 1, Monday-Friday. Summer Splash Camp is offered for grades 4-5, also from June 13-July 1, Monday-Friday. Summer on the Farm will welcome students in grades 2-5 to the Career and Technology Center on June 13-16. They will have a morning session from 8-11 a.m. or an afternoon session from 12-3 p.m. Urban League Camp will be offered at Foster Park, Buffalo, and Sims for grades K-5 and 6-8 from June 13-July 28, Monday-Thursday, except for the week of July 4.
The school district’s STEM Camp is for rising 7-8 graders and will be held at Sims from June 13-30, Monday-Thursday. The middle school content recovery program, which is the traditional summer school for middle schoolers, will be held at Sims and Jonesville June 7-30, Monday-Thursday.
Jacket Training Camp for rising 9th graders will be August 1-5 at Union County High School. The UCHS/USCU Early College Summer Program for rising 9th graders will be June 13-July 29. It is a virtual, self-paced summer program. The UCHS Credit Recovery Program, the high school’s traditional summer school for 9-12 graders, will be June 7-22, Monday-Thursday, at the high school. The UCHS Initial Credit Program for 9-12 graders will be held June 7-30, Monday-Thursday, at the high school.
In addition, Dr. Lacresha Byrd said middle schoolers were sent home a flyer about a summer math challenge that will begin on June 20 and go for six weeks.
