Supervisor Frank Hart to Resign; Will Take Part-Time Magistrate Job

County delegation to recommend an interim supervisor to the governor

Supervisor Frank Hart and Senator Shane Martin appeared on Union County’s morning show Monday. Martin provided a legislative update on what the SC Senate has done this session. Supervisor Frank Hart gave updates on numerous projects in the county, as well.

Toward the end, Senator Shane Martin gave some background on Supervisor Frank Hart’s future. He said that Magistrate Bucky Sprouse has to retire at the age of 72 by June 30. Martin said Sprouse made the recommendation that Frank Hart take over the position, but Sprouse didn’t know if Hart would want to or not, given his role as county supervisor. Martin said Hart had announced a few weeks earlier that he would not be seeking reelection, so he approached him about the opportunity, and Hart has agreed to take the position. Upon his resignation, Governor Henry McMaster will appoint someone to serve as interim supervisor, with input from the county delegation. We’ll have more on this and the other items they talked about in future newscasts.
