SC Broadband Office seeks to bring reliable, high-speed internet to all in SC
The Catawba Regional Council of Governments is working with the State of South Carolina Broadband Office to assist them with their statewide initiative, GetConnectedSC. Its mission is to help bring reliable, high-speed internet to every South Carolinian. The goal of the program is to identify areas of need, invest in broadband infrastructure, and provide support services to make that transformation possible for every home, business, and community organization in the state.
The first step in the process is the evaluation phase to determine how citizens access/use the internet and service satisfaction. This information will be gathered by a survey distributed statewide. The survey is referred to as the “Better-Internet Survey.” Citizens are asked to input their local zip code to match geographic locations with responses, but no personal identifying information is requested. The input received from these surveys will form the basis for a Five-Year Broadband Plan for South Carolina. For citizens that may need access to a paper copy of the survey, they may request one by calling 803-753-4349. We will also put a link to the survey on our WBCU Facebook page this morning.
There will be an event at the Union County Carnegie Library on Tuesday, April 4, at 2 p.m. to tell people about the program and to get them to fill out the survey, as well. Refreshments will be served.
