Teen Shot Behind Fairforest Apartments

No suspects named, but authorities say there is no public threat

Friday afternoon, the Union Public Safety Department responded to a call regarding shots fired in the rear parking lot area of the Fairforest Apartments at 221 East Main Street. Officers arrived on scene shortly after 3:30 p.m. and found a 15-year-old juvenile with a gunshot wound to the leg. The juvenile was treated on scene by Union County EMS and transported to the hospital. As of Friday evening, there were no suspects in the case, but the Union Public Safety Department stated it was an isolated incident and there was no immediate threat to the public. The investigation into the shooting is continuing.
