Thomas Hobbs graduated in 2020
Two from Union County were among the 71 graduates from the South Carolina Economic Development Institute, which is a statewide economic development training program. The SC Department of Commerce and SC Economic Developers’ Association announced the graduates yesterday. The program is designed to teach participants innovative development approaches that they can take home and help implement in the local community. The latest session combined the classes of 2020 and 2021, as the 2020 session was postponed due to COVID.
Thomas Hobbs of the Union County Development Board was part of the 2020 class, while Timika Wilson, head of the Union County Democratic Party, was part of the class of 2021. WBCU News spoke to Wilson about the experience and how she came to get involved in it:
