Today is an Early Release Day for Union County Schools

Daniel Prince

A look ahead at the school calendar shows several days off between now and Christmas

As a reminder, today will be the second of six scheduled early release days for this school year. The early release days were built in the calendar to allow for professional development opportunities throughout the year without having to miss an entire day of instruction. Elementary schools will dismiss at 12:15 p.m. Middle schools will dismiss at 12:45 p.m., and Union County High School will dismiss at 1 p.m. Students will receive lunch at school. All early release days this year are scheduled on Wednesdays. After Wednesday, the next one will not be until January 11, with others planned for February 8, March 8, and April 19.

Looking at the calendar for the rest of 2022, students will be out of school on Friday, October 21, for parent conferences. Staff will have a half-day that day. They will also get a mini fall break of sorts in early November, as they will be out on Monday, November 7, and Tuesday, November 8. November 8 is Election Day. Thanksgiving break will be November 23-25. Christmas break is scheduled for December 19 through January 3.
