Town of Jonesville Receives Grant for Streetscape Project

$750,000 grant will cover first phase of project

The SC Department of Commerce announced another round of Community Development Block Grants. The $10.7 million in grants will support projects in 23 communities across the state. The Town of Jonesville received a $750,000 grant for its Main Street Streetscape improvements.

The project will be done in multiple phases including all or a portion of Main Street/Hwy. 9, Pacolet St./Hwy. 18, First Street, Gilead Street, Hames Street, Peach Street, Harris Street, Forest Street, Church Street, and Depot Street.

Proposed improvements include paving, curbs and gutters, decorative ADA-compliant crosswalks and ramps, sidewalks, trees, landscaping, streetlights, signage, stormwater and erosion controls, and upgrades to drainage and irrigation and utility lines, including water, sewer, and gas. The grant will cover the first phase of the project, which is estimated to cost $905,000, including $155,000 in non-federal funds.
