Daniel Prince

Man faces weapons charge, woman faces drug charges

The Union County Sheriff’s Office charged two people following a traffic stop Saturday night. Corporal Cole Stanley was patrolling North Duncan Bypass when he saw a silver vehicle traveling in the rain at night with no headlights on. Stanley stopped the vehicle and identified the driver as 44-year-old Brandi Northern.

Stanley smelled a strong odor of marijuana coming from the car, so he had Northern and her passenger step out of the vehicle. Deputy Merriett searched the male passenger and found a firearm in the man’s back pocket. The man, identified as 42-year-old Brad Henderson, was arrested for unlawful carry and placed in the back of Merriett’s vehicle for transport.

Deputies then searched Northern’s vehicle and found a pill bottle containing 21 Xanax pills, 2.4 grams of methamphetamine, 6 peach-colored pills, and a small amount of marijuana. Northern was arrested and placed in the back of Stanley’s vehicle. She and Henderson were both transported to Union County Jail. Northern is charged with possession with intent to distribute a Schedule 4 drug and possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine. Henderson is charged with unlawful carrying of a handgun.
